Jeep Cherokee 2014 Rides up to Expectations

Nowadays it can be difficult to tell who exactly is making a car, or any other product for that matter. While Jeep may be a full-fledged American brand, it is a subdivision of the Chrysler Group LLC, which is itself a subsidiary of the Italian Fiat Group. Of course, the recent recession that we still suffer from had something to do with it, and lots of big companies were swallowed up by even bigger ones, or were forced to go into partnerships. All these I’m sure, are not of that much interest to most car lovers and drivers, and as long as the quality of production is maintained. In that respect, Jeep has always maintained its identity, and to prove that we’re going to review one of their latest cars the Jeep Cherokee 2014.

It might seem odd to some that we argument Jeep’s identity with a crossover like Jeep Cherokee 2014, but the truth is once you’re behind the wheel or see the car in person, you know exactly what you’re dealing with. And while some have complained about the exterior design saying it’s weird, we think it’s always a good thing when brands reinvent themselves. Moving on to more practical matters, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee will come with two engine options. The standard option is a 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine of the Tigershark MultiAir type. This engine produces some 184 horsepower and 171 p. ft. of torque. While you shouldn’t expect too much speed and power from this Jeep, know that it still has pretty good acceleration and won’t leave you wanting.

The second engine option for the Jeep Cherokee 2014 is a 3.2 liter V-6 engine from Pentastar; here is where some of you will smile in content, because the engine produces 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, both versions of the car come equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission which also features two shifting programs, allowing you to switch to sport or manual transmission. Those who will prefer a cheaper version of the Jeep will get one with front-wheel drive, but you can also purchase 4×4 versions.

Things get even more complicated here, as Jeep tries to make one model car fit different personalities, driver and budgets; thus, even the Active Drive all-wheel drive system comes in three versions, the coolest of which is of course the Active Drive Lock system which features a rear locker, blocking the wheels for off-road activities, or the 4-Low drive ratio. These systems allow the car to detect different surfaces to some extent, thus adapting to new road conditions. Technology-wise the Jeep Cherokee 2014 is probably one of the best-equipped cars for the next year, but this of course will be valid for those who can afford it.
