New Hybrid: Subaru XV Crosstrek 2014

Japanese cars have always been good competition for European or American cars, and sometimes they even lead this competition with technological innovations or great designs. Subaru is one of the Japanese car manufacturers most appreciated around the world, and this brand produces almost all types of cars, from sedans and coupes to crossovers and sport cars. Today however, we want to focus on one of their most interesting additions for the coming year, a car which shows great promise: the Subaru XV Crosstrek 2014, a crossover wagon with hybrid characteristics. In fact, this is the first hybrid car made by Subaru, and aficionados of this brand have been waiting for it for some years.

The hybrid car industry is in full development, and it looks like this is the direction that fast transportation is taking; so let’s take a closer look and see what the engineers at Subaru have managed to create. To begin with, the Subaru XV Crosstrek 2014 is based on the Subaru Imprezza, so the overall design might seem similar to you; this hybrid however, is a bit larger, so it has bigger wheels, as well as some mechanical improvements. The car is also a bit higher than the normal hatchback, all while maintaining stability; it is much more suited for off-road trips, and its all-wheel-drive makes it a pleasure.

Basically, this is a car you will love to ride in on long trips, whether you’re going on a business trip, or on an outdoor vacation at the mountain or beach. It is very roomy inside, and storage space is quite capacious as well. The Subaru XV Crosstrek 2014 will be available in three versions, all of which are fitted with 2.0-liter engines which produce 148 horsepower. The first variant comes with five-speed manual transmission, which is complimented by 10-watt electric motor. The battery is nickel-metal-hybrid, and the entire hybrid system adds about 300 pounds to the car’s overall weight; this means that you shouldn’t expect record speeds from the car, but rather great maneuverability and performance.

There is also an option for the automatic Limited Subaru XV Crosstrek 2014, which has a number of options and accessories, such as leather upholstery and a great audio system with display screen, rearview camera and navigation system. But the other two versions of manual and automatic Premium look great inside as well, and they are, most of all, very spacious. So far there is no accurate information about speed, performance and autonomy of hybrid, but with a little patience we will get to see how this unique Subaru fares on the streets.
